thankful thursday...

Yesterday I heard a conversation about a dinner that someone had just had with an individual that could not find one thing to be positive about. He complained about the meal~~even though it was exactly as he had ordered it. He griped about the restaurant~~even though he was the one that had chosen it. The only thing he did not grumble about was the napkin he was given with the silverware. This person could not would not find anything to be thankful for.

I know that we all have times in our lives when we feel like everything is going wrong. Every turn brings another heartache, crisis, or temptation to overcome. It becomes easy to immerse ourselves in negative thoughts and attitudes. 'Woe is me' becomes our mantra. We become so consumed with the 'Why is this happening to me?' or the 'Seriously, what can possibly happen next?' that we lose sight of the glories and blessings that surround us.

When we look beyond ourselves and focus on the love God shows us in our daily lives, it is impossible to NOT find things to be thankful for.

So on this the first day of October, I am looking beyond my worries and fears and I am counting my blessings.

I am so very thankful for....

My husband who works hard at whatever job he can find to support us as he tries to find a permanent job.

Michaela, who is a loving and tender-hearted young lady whose choices make me proud.

Emma, who in all of her drama about EVERYTHING, can usually make me laugh countless times a day:)

The glorious Autumn colors that are beginning to emerge.

The crisp Autumn temperatures we are experiencing~~nothing better than sleeping with the windows open snuggled under quilts!

The stack of wood in the back~~waiting for cold winter days and a warm crackling fire in the fireplace.

The decreasing price of petrol!!!

Ice~cold Skyline fountain Pepsi ~~with extra ice {and the sweet husband who just handed me one as he returned from picking up Michaela from practice!!}

A phone interview tomorrow with the company Steve has been temp~ing with!!!

And, of course, for my Christian friends that pray for us, that support us, and that love us.

What are you thankful for this Thursday?
