I cannot believe how quickly the days go by...
The girls and I have been back from England for a little over a year...
and Steve arrived here a year ago this month...
it feels like just a few months ago we landed at Indianapolis airport and began acclimating to being back in the States.
~~~~~~~~~~~
The girls are out of school today and Monday.
I am out for Columbus Day on Monday also...
Yeah, a long weekend!!!
We would be doing something fun, somewhere....
but we would have to build an ark first to stay dry in the deluge of rain.
~~~~~~~~~~
So the good news this week is that Steve has a job!!!
It is a 6 month contract job with the company he has been temp~ing with...
The company is trying to make it a permanent job before the end of the contract...
the bad news~~he still has to work a second job:(
~~~~~~~~~
Beware ~~ a rant in the middle of my FF...
How do people live on what this company pays its employees? We only have a mortgage, car insurance, utilities, dance classes, groceries and petrol to pay for each month and Steve has to work 2 jobs to just pay for the bare minimum...
How do people who have car loans, credit card bills, etc. make ends meet?
Okay, stepping down off of my soap box!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
While the girls and I ran around doing errands today, we had conversations about many arbitrary topics...
as you can imagine with a 6 year old and a 13 year old:)
A one point we were discussing why No. Kentucky was considered to be in the Mid-West....
I am not sure how this came up????
In the course of the discussion, Michaela concluded that because we do not have an accent~~~but those to the north and those to the south of us do, WE are the standard that all others are measured by...
Yeah, not the slightest bit egotistical!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Emma began her Halloween costume ritual...
the ritual where she sees Halloween merchandise in the stores and begins deciding what she wants to be for Halloween...
and then changes her mind everyday~~~or a few times a day~~~until I 'finalize' her decision by buying something for the costume!
This year we have gone from wanting to be a princess (of course) to a fairy to Hannah Montana...
This year's ritual was ended today when we bought a bandanna...
Cowgirl Emma Shea will be making her debut on October 31!
I read today that President Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize.
To explain this year's selection, the peace prize committee "credited Obama not for concrete accomplishments but for atmospheric ones. "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," the committee said. "His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population." (MSN)
HUH? Creating warm and fuzzy feelings with speeches earns a Nobel Peace prize?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I laid down at 5:30~~for just a minute~~and woke up as Steve was leaving for his 2nd job...
that would be at 9:30!!
The nap actually made me more tired than I was...
so I am going to attempt to go back to sleep!
Sweet dreams!!!
