some days life is like a roller coaster ride...

Have you ever had a day that feels like as you stepped out of bed, you sat in a roller coaster car and strapped yourself in?

Preparing for the twist and turns, inclines and stomach~turning drops...

Never knowing what lies ahead...

but bracing yourself for the next turn~~~with both anticipation and dread.

A day that begins with bumpy incline as your daughter struggles to be get ready for school without ugliness and whining...

and then the feeling of exhilaration as she turns and smiles sweetly at you while blowing you a kiss on her way into school...

a moment of calm as you sit in a peacefully quiet home~~~ slowly climbing another hill...

and without warning having your stomach lurch when you receive a call telling you to read email NOW~~~plummeting down an incline and being caught completely off guard by a sharp turn.

The twist and turns, the ups and downs continue, because that is life. We often may be taken by surprise by the death defying drops, yet we can have confidence that while we are on this roller coaster of life, we are kept safe by our faith in God. We can be comforted knowing that we are surrounded by friends who will be there to hold us up when we feel the ride is too much. We can have peace in the knowledge that God is always with us; that we never have to bear the ride alone. And while there may be times we want to hold our hands up and demand to be let off the ride, we know that the end of the ride, eternal life in heaven, is worth all of the turns and plummeting falls we have to endure.

As I sit here typing through the tears that are falling, I implore you to pray for my dear friends, Shelly and Emory. And while I will not go into specifics, because they are not mine to tell, I do ask that you pray to God for them to have strength, open hearts, and patience as they face what is before them.
